Ghana Rural Action Support Programme (GRASP) a not-for-profit Non Governmental Organization (NGO) was established in December 2001, and registered under the company’s code 1963 (Act 179) with registration number G.9093.

 

The organization is also registered with the Ministry of Employment and Social Welfare with registration number D.S.W/2175.

 

GRASP is affiliated to the following associations

  • Coalition of NGOs for the right of children
  • Population Association of Ghana (PAG)
  • Reproductive Health NGOs

Mission

The aim of GRASP is to support the rural poor, especially women and children to realize their full potentials and contribute to sustainable improvement in their lives by facilitating lasting change through capacity building, education, advocacy, networking, partnerships and forming linkages with other organizations that have common vision.

Our vision is to grow into a well-organized and reputable organization playing leading roles nationally and internationally in the advocacy for empowerment of women and better future for children.

We also uphold the policies of transparency and accountability with our partners, project beneficiaries, donors and staffs, acting consistently with a view of achieving utmost success and positive impact in all projects and program we undertake.

 

Organisational Capacity -Grasp

staff comprises of Educationists public health personnel, social workers, gender specialist, community development specialists with vast experiences in project development and management, HIV\AIDS specialist and water and sanitation specialist. There is a team of expects research and project evaluation. The is a six (6) member board of directors who are the highest decision making body. They formulate policies, approve the organization’s expenditure and monitor the implementation of policies. GOALS To empower women to improve their socioeconomic status, demand and insist on their rights and actively take part in governance and decision making at all levels; and equip children for a productive and challenging future.

Objectives AIDS Awareness -grasps

  • To improve quality of life of community members especially women and children by making basic curative health care acceptable, accessible and affordable in all target communities.
  • To create awareness among rural folks on reproductive health issues such as family planning, and HIV/AIDS and STIs using participatory learning and action tools.
  • To reduce the impact of HIV/AIDS on People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHAs), Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs) and the community as a whole.
  • To reduce extreme poverty and hunger by establishing income generating projects for women and the youth in the rural communities.
  • To promote girls’ education and empowerment of women to actively participate in governance.
